Clinical literature describes the repetitive injuries and conditions due to the use of electronic devices, especially stationary computers or workstations. Many patients come into the chiropractic office with complaints of shoulder pain without injury or trauma.
The presenting complaints follow a recognizable pattern of symptoms
Pain in one shoulder (the shoulder that uses the mouse)
Tightness and pain in the neck, upper back and the shoulder blade
Dull aching or a burning sensation in the shoulder area
Headaches
More chronic condition, you may have numbness or tingling down the arm to the fingers.
To break the chain of pain without using an addictive pain reliever, the chiropractic approach focuses on the nerve root irritation of the lower cervical spine (C5-C7). These nerves supply the muscles that support the shoulder girdle as well as the muscles of the arm and hand. A typical treatment consists of therapy to relieve muscle spasms and trigger points. Typically, there are three areas of fixation that will be adjusted
Thoracic and rib head segmental fixation
Lower cervical segmental fixation
Glenohumeral joint dysfunction
